The Center for Health Care Services seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual to serve as its next Development Officer to lead its Foundation, a 501(c)3 fundraising entity. The Center is dedicated to providing quality integrated care aimed at improving the lives of children and adults with mental health conditions, substance use challenges, and intellectual or developmental disabilities. The Development Officer will play a crucial leadership role in securing sustainable resources to create awareness and advance the goals of the Center.

THE CENTER FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES
For more than fifty years, The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) has served as the mental health authority and public safety net for Bexar County, providing treatment programs for women, children, and men experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. With five operational departments covering the full range of behavioral health and substance use services, CHCS is ready to deliver the most comprehensive wraparound programs available. In FY24 alone, CHCS served 40,000 residents and delivered an estimated 1 million behavioral health services to its community.
THE FOUNDATION
The mission of The Center for Health Care Services Foundation is to enhance the lives of children and adults facing behavioral health challenges or intellectual disabilities by securing resources that promote awareness and advance the goals of the Center for Health Care Services. The CHCS staffs the CHCS Foundation with a Chief Executive Officer, Development Officer, Mental Health Awareness Training Program Manager, CHCS Foundation Coordinator, Development & Foundation Program Manager, and a Mental Health Awareness Coordinator. The Foundation has an operating budget of $891,000 and a board of directors consisting of 12 members.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Development Officer will play a significant leadership role, focusing on advancing CHCS’s mission and objectives and providing resources to the board of directors. The Officer will oversee a team of four and develop and implement fundraising initiatives, establish and nurture donor relationships, and ensure the organization's financial stability through strategic fundraising efforts. The Development Officer will identify grant opportunities, plan strategically, and organize major fundraising campaigns. Key responsibilities include fundraising and community engagement, strategic leadership, board development, advocacy, and grant management.
The ideal candidate is passionate about serving the public and possesses an exceptional track record in bringing key stakeholders together to determine the best structure for the Foundation, developing new strategies and donor partnerships to strengthen CHCS's financial outlook, and has experience managing major fundraising campaigns.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the requirements for the position. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. The following is a typical way to qualify:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, journalism, or English from an accredited university. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience: Eight years of related experience.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for the Development Officer is $144,000 to $160,000, with placement in the range depending on qualifications. The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, compensated leave, and retirement benefits.
